FOUNDER / PRINCIPAL / DIRECTOR

Penny Wong is the founder and director of Heavenly Star Music Sdn. Bhd., as well as the Associate Professor Examiner of US IMAA Arts Grade Evaluation since 2019. She graduated with a Master in Music Performance degree at the University of Malaya and Liverpool John Moores University, UK. Her 14 years of teaching music in various settings has inspired her with numerous ideas to teach more effectively. Her young apprentices have received gold and silver awards in numerous competitions such as the London Clementi Competition and Chopin Competition, to name a few. Besides, some of them are also the highest achievers in the UK Trinity Exam over the years.

Penny has developed an exclusive teaching book named “Wonderful Music Star Course” to help young children aged 2-4 to explore the wonderful world of music through various musical activities. It is recognised by the UK National College of Music and Arts and adopted in the UK NCM Early Childhood Music Exam Syllabus. Penny is currently the exam representative of Early Years in this NCM Exam Board. She is busy developing more and more interesting Early Childhood books or materials as well as doing Teacher Training for the Wonderful Music Star Course.

Penny also believes that music performance will help students to learn to truly appreciate music, and in turn boost their confidence via performances. All students are encouraged to participate in various musical events such as the Christmas concert at Publika, music bazaar at Plaza Arcadia, Desa Park City, Spring Concert at Hyatt House Hotel, Annual Concert at Sg Long Gold Club, Music Camp at Damen Shopping Mall at USJ1, etc. There were at least 100-150 participants in each of the concerts.

She is driven by love, faith and hope in her music career fuelled by her firm belief that “EVERY CHILD IS A MUSIC STAR”. Under her tutelage, some of her students furthered their music study abroad or became pianists in renowned youth orchestras in Malaysia. Driven by her passion in music education, she has organised multiple music workshops and shared her experience with students as well as parents. Moreover, her enthusiasm has kept her going in nurturing young talents, developing new performance approaches, engaging in ethnographic research, translating student theses for music master’s programme, etc. Besides, she is looking forward to develop WONDERFUL MUSIC STAR OUTREACH PROGRAMME for children with special needs.

I believes that music performance will help students to learn to truly appreciate music, and in turn boost their confidence via performances.
